Initiatives for Progressive Change (IfPC) is a registered community-based organization committed to inspiring change and transforming lives in ASAL (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands) regions of Kenya. Founded on the principles of inclusivity, innovation, and grassroots engagement, IfPC has emerged as a trusted partner in addressing marginalized communities’ socio-economic and environmental challenges.

With a focus on empowering women and youth, fostering peace, and driving sustainable development, IfPC is dedicated to creating long-lasting, community-driven solutions.

What We Do
IfPC focuses on addressing critical issues affecting communities in ASAL regions through its thematic focus areas:

  1. Rural Development and Livelihood Support
    • Promoting sustainable agriculture and food security.
    • Enhancing access to income-generating opportunities for women and youth.
  2. Reproductive Health and Education
    • Advocating for sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR).
    • Empowering communities to eliminate harmful practices like FGM and early marriages.
  3. Community Peacebuilding and Climate Action
    • Implementing community-led peace initiatives to resolve conflicts and foster social cohesion.
    • Promoting climate-smart practices to address climate change and its impacts.
  4. Human Rights and Governance
    • Strengthening community capacity to demand accountability and transparency.
    • Supporting youth participation in governance and policy-making processes.

Our Approach

Our Achievements

  • Established the Saku Youth Assembly (SYA), with ongoing efforts to expand youth platforms like the Moyale Youth Assembly (MYA) and Marsabit Youth Parliament (MYP).
  • Created the Marsabit County Anti-FGM Youth Network, a key player in advocating against harmful practices.
  • Implemented the Jirime Peace Accord Project, fostering lasting peace between warring communities.
  • Launched the Mazingira Bora Kwa Chakula Bora Nyumbani Project, addressing climate change and food insecurity through climate-smart agriculture.
  • Advocated for reproductive health rights through the Reproductive Health Outreach Project (R-HOP), reaching thousands with education and services.

Our Team
IfPC is governed by a passionate and experienced Board of Directors, predominantly women, and led by a dynamic Executive Director. Our team includes dedicated administrative staff and volunteers who are committed to achieving our mission.

Our Office
We operate from a fully equipped office in Marsabit town, serving as a hub for our activities and community engagement.
