Overview
Hassan Adan Mulata is a seasoned governance, peacebuilding, and community development practitioner with over a decade of experience working in northern Kenya’s fragile and conflict-affected contexts. As the Founder and CEO of Initiatives for Progressive Change (IfPC), he provides strategic leadership in advancing inclusive governance, peacebuilding, youth civic engagement, and social accountability across Marsabit County and beyond.
Founder’s Role
Hassan Adan Mulata founded Initiatives for Progressive Change (IfPC) in 2014 out of a strong commitment to address the governance gaps, recurring conflict, and development inequalities affecting communities in northern Kenya. What began as a grassroots vision to create a platform for dialogue, accountability, and youth inclusion has grown into a respected community-based organization advancing peacebuilding and citizen-driven development across Marsabit County and beyond. As Founder and CEO, Hassan has played a central role in building IfPC’s institutional identity, strategic direction, and community trust. He has led the organization in designing and implementing impactful, donor-supported programmes that strengthen community resilience, promote inclusive governance, and expand civic space for marginalized voices - particularly youth, women, and pastoralist communities. Under his leadership, IfPC has become a key convener of community-government engagement, supporting local mediation efforts, strengthening social accountability structures, and enabling communities to actively shape development priorities and public decision-making processes.
